Art Bell subtly talks coincidences, George Noory and that ‘other show’

Since launching “Dark Matter” on SiriusXM last month, Art Bell has kept his thoughts pertaining to his former show, “Coast to Coast AM,” and his successor George Noory to a minimal. Anything on air spoken by Bell in regards to Coast or Noory has been more or less subtle. Bell gave his peace about Noory on a few occasions via Facebook, as well as to Time magazine last month. Such words by Bell were always constructive, not intended to be personal. I think Bell was within his rights, considering he kept his mouth shut for 10 years while Noory slowly destroyed the program that Bell created.

Since late last week, Tobias McGriff was scheduled to appear on tonight’s “Dark Matter.” Sometime over the weekend, “Coast to Coast” booked McGriff for last night’s show. Bell discussed the “coincidence” at the start of his show last night (“Dark Matter” airs prior to “Coast to Coast,” with the last hour of Bell’s program coinciding with the first hour of Noory’s).  Bell made his point, as tactfully as he possibly could, as only he can. And just in case Bell’s message was too subtle, the bumper music played afterwards further makes his point loud and clear.

A few added thoughts…

I’m not a regular “Coast to Coast” listener, but it has been well documented elsewhere that Noory often seems unprepared and uninterested when interviewing guests. Wouldn’t it be more appropriate for him to book guests for his show the night after appearing on “Dark Matter?” Noory can listen to the questions asked by Bell (show prep!) and use them on his own show the following night. To the remaining “Coast” fans who are not listening to Bell’s new show, they’d probably think Noory had never sounded better.

If Bell continues with the subtle shots, I picture Noory’s eventual breaking point being somewhat similar to “The Office” where Michael Scott asks Stanley why he picks on him (from the episode “Did I Stutter?”).

  1. So you have the nerve to tell us your opinion of George and you are not a regular listener? You have nothing to back up your view point, dummy, do you. I’ve been an avid listener of Coast for 14 years. I loved Art and George. none of the hosts are exactly the same. I started listening to Dark Matter in addition to Coast. you can like both you know? I didn’t like the way Art disses George and Coast and you know what, it isn’t so subtle. It’s outright rude and juvenile. Art left the show…period. If he leaves he leaves. If he wants to come back there may or may not be room for him. That’s just how it goes. George has said nothing but good things about Art and always mentiones him at the end of the show. If it wasn’t for George, I would never have known about Dark Matter as he announced it on the air. I don’t know what went on between them but I do know that if you air your dirty laundry on the air and talk sht about other shows, you look very bad. Look at it this way. If it weren’t for Coast to Coast, Art would not have had such immediate success with his new show. Grow up Art!

  2. Great know it all Nettie flaps her yap

  3. Agree with Nettie. I’m new to both shows, and I find Art to be very rude, whereas I find Noory to be polite and respectful. Bell frequently cuts off his guests, or downright talks over them. Noory interrupts guests occasionally in order to go to break, but does so in a way that you sense was unavoidable. Being very interested in topics discussed by either show, I was initially excited to hear about Dark Matter, but not so much after listening to Art for just two episodes.

  4. Art Bell is only stating the obvious. Coast is only doing what all companies do in the market, fight for the $$$. Art also doesn’t need to sink so low. Wait in coming weeks. Be amazed. But really true fans already know.

  5. I have to agree with the 2 posters above re: Art being rude to guests. Art may be the better interviewer but George is much better mannered.

  6. Art is a way better interviewer than george. George just goes along with anything no matter how full of themselves his guests get. Art actually has good questions and calls people out when something doesnt make sense or just sounds ridiculas , he actually asks why it is that way and wants facts. George just says ” oh wow ” to everything . its soooo boring. Art being rude ? Give me a break . social justice much?

  7. George- ” so your telling me that the mothman COULD be an interdimensional being? ”

Guest – ” well yeah he could be ”

George -” oh wow , thats incredible!”

You have to be kidding me…
