Local news is a joke (cold weather edition)

The bitter cold in Chicagoland has closed a bunch of schools. Not too complicated, eh?

Why is it necessary for WBBM-TV/CBS 2 to send Susanna Song on the road to stand in front of a non-lit and empty school building at 5 a.m. today to file her report on school closings?

Rhetorical question. The answer is because local television news is a joke.

This rant isn’t directed towards Susanna Song, who I do like. All across the Midwest, news directors have assigned their reporters to stand somewhere outdoors and bundled up in layers to convey to viewers that it’s freakin’ cold out.

Not necessary!
